There is a chip shop in Crown st, Annes Fries, I would like to know where the original shop was located
I know there was one at the back of Cumberland Arcade but I want to know the original location in Gorbals
Anybody got any ideas?

Re: annes fries
I can only remember Anns Fry ''Note Spelling'' when it was part of the shopping Area at the bottom of Cumberland Arcade, And that was in the early 1970's. They did however have another shop on Abercromby St in The Calton Area of the East End.
Re: annes fries
I think it was in Cumberland St originally...not sure....

Hi Norrie+gang
Been asking a few people and had a few answers, seems that Annies or Annes fry is owned by a man called "Salim" and he's still working in it. One person said it was situated in Cumberland st [between Hospital st and Crown st] another says it was on the corner of Crown st/Cumberland st. Another person said it was on Caledonia Rd [1st one ?] while another person says it could have been on Rutherglen Rd [again the 1 st shop]. A friend of mine is going to ask Salim in a few days where was the first shop Norrie so hopefully I can get back to you then with the answer.
Regards.

Re: annes fries
Anns Fry was not actually part of the Cumberland Arcade, it was the other side of the Lizzie flats on a block of shops on their own, a chemist on one corner the Elizabethan Pub on another, the really good Chinese take away and Anns Fry, there was 2-3 other shops as well, diagonally across from Anns through the flats again was another chippie, I am pretty sure it was called Mario's, correct me if im wrong, I am going back to the seventies and early eighties.

Hi Cockatoo,
Yes I think you're correct about the position of Anne's Fry's and Mario's was the other chip shop, some people liked Marios others liked Anne's.
Regards.
