I know there is a building being built there at the moment but I thought it was part of the garage for offices, who knows as I remember a couple of years there was a car wash being built after the one that had been there for a few years as my brother had asked workmen at the time what it was and they said a car wash but they stopped the build.

Amelia, it looks like I was misled on the housing part of the new bus garage. When I took a look myself it said there would be room for 450 buses, not houses as my friend thought.

Hi all
Amelia good on you making the favours, you go girl!
You and I must have thought alike with the KKT, it never worked out for me either!
I also remember playing at wee shops. Digging up the dirt and selling it as a wee quarter pound of corn mutton. Using wallies for the money and shouting "who's next please?" (when their was only one of your pals playing with you.)
Also remember at parties as teenagers playing stations, well enough said about that one! ;)
And remember someone would tie a ribbon around the clothes poles and that was the stage and all the kids would go on stage and sing or dance and the neighbours would give a halfpenny carmel or the like, or if you were really lucky you sometimes got a penny.
Had a few skinned knees in my day from roller skating as well.
Reg, I remember that game with the ball in the nylon.
Danny hope you have a lovely holiday and a great walk down memory lane.
Great memories of all these childhood games. Cheers, Sheila

Hi Everyone who has contributed to this subject...yes, I played most of those games that have been talked about here but the games we, my pals and me, like best was having wee concerts in the back...We used to go to the place in the Glasgow Green where they had concerts every week in the summer...Of course, we did not get to go in and sit on a seat, as that cost money, but stood behind the railings and peeked through the hedges..If we were lucky we got to stand at the gate and we could see the whole concert...Then we would come back home and plan our concert based on what we saw the previous night...We would get dressed up in our Mammy's dresses or our Daddy's trousers all depending what part you had in the concert...What imaginations we had then...Then there was another game we played...you dug three wee holes in the dirt in the back and with "Jorries" we would try to get the jorrie into the holes...Some of us had good jorries that were great rollers...Then sometimes we would play with ha'pennies and threw them...Also, there was a game called "Moshey" but I cannot remember how that was played...When we got tired of all that we played on the "dykes." Many a skinned knee we got climbing them...Lived on Sandyfaulds Street and there was a wall between Sandyfaulds Street and Mathieson Street called "the sausage" because in was only one brick wide, and I mean the skinny side of the brick, and when you conqured that you thought you were a pro at it...The sannies that we wore got worn out from climbing up and dreeping down but what great times we used to have...These are the memories that can never be taken away from us and are great to look back on to cheer us up as we age...I just wish my grandchildren had the opportunities to use their imaginations like we did.. :D .

Hi Gang,
Yes just thinking back on the games we played as weans, Margaret I think that "Moshey" was when you dug a wee hole in the ground and you had to roll your "Jorries" into it . First one to get their "Jorrie" into it would then pick it up and standing would take aim and try and hit the other "jorries" with a throw of the wrist, if you hit the "jorrie" then it became yours :D . Freddy what was "iron tig" was it "tigging" or touching somebody and then they had to chase you to "tig" you back ?. Hope everyone is keeping OK and yes Shelia I had a great time back hame [seemed to be in the Brazen Head and Laurieston bars on more than a few occasions]

Regards.
Danny :)

Hi Danny, when the kids in our family played Moshie it was three holes, maybe six feet or more apart and they played with coins. Sometimes there was quite a few of them lining up for a game and eventually they ended up playing for £1 coins. Some of them made a mint with that game. Don't seem to see anyone playing it these days though. :o

Hi Josie,
That's right I can remember that now with the coins, remember playing cards when I was a wean out in the street but it wasn't for money the winner of the card game gave the losers a rap over the knuckles with the full deck of cards [till they bled]. Although you never cried as we were "tough" and I remember one day in the street playing cards and this Polisman came over to us and wanted to know if we were playing for money ? "funny Polis" ha ha .
Regards.
