Hi Chris
Was interested in your update. I know how difficult it is to deal with someone who has memory loss when you're trying to get information, so God bless you for trying. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for the best outcome in your quest. Cheers, Sheila

Hi again Sheila,

Brian had a stroke about 2 yrs ago. To be honest his memory wasn't all that hot before but it's dire since he's had the stroke. Although she wouldn't have known him at the time, Yvonne has listened to his army-stories for the past 3 decades so she has been able to help fill in a few blanks. The bits she has been able to remember have helped Brian to recall certain other facts.

Davie Howie, (para email above), is suggesting he would have been in Royal Artillery 33rd Parachute Field Regiment & that 59 might have been the troop number.

Thanks for your interest!

All the best,

Chris

Hi Chris
Not sure if it will help but I have asked members of another group if they have any info on Mr. Higgins. Just posted the notice now. I did contact one person name Higgins on that site, but no luck with that one. Will pass on any information to you if I get any. Cheers, Sheila

Hello Chris,
You could join a group called Old Gorbals Photos. They have over 3,000 members, and some of them were army men. There have been a lot of old friendships rekindled. Just type Old Gorbals Photos in the search bar, and click on Join. Wait for the administrator to accept your request. It's worth a try. Good luck!
Rose.

Hi Rose,

I've searched for "Old Gorbals Photos" but can't find anything specific.
Is it within another site?
If so, perhaps you have the URL? (website address).

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi Rosemary,

Thanks for the comments.

He certainly did a lot and saw a lot.
I couldn't put down a lot of what he had to do in writing as much of it was pretty 'close to the knuckle'.
Like the troops of today, whether we see their actions as valid or not, (most conflicts of yesteryear don't stand up to close scrutiny today), they did what they were expected to do and it was often a dirty and unpleasant task.
Most of the lads dying in Iraq, (for example), are only cannon-fodder to allow the politicians to curry favour by keeping the cost of fuel down by a few pennies in a litre, (in my opinion).

To any Rugby fans on the site -
ALL THE BEST FOR THE FRANCE MATCH ON SATURDAY!!

All the best,

Chris

Danny,

Hi,

Thanks for that.

I'm not a Facebook fan, so don't have an account, (and don't intend to have one). I know a few Facebook addicts though, (Brian's daughter amongst them), so I'll see if I can get one of them to have a look.

Thanks again!

Chris
