Amelia, if you have a universal remote then you need to type in a code associated with the name of your tv into the remote before you can use your doodah :D There may be several choices for each brand of tv so just keep trying. there should obviously be instructions with your remote to follow. My telly is a daewoo and I had to do it when my remote went as well...good luck. :)

HiMargaret,
I was the same as you I though t that the U.S.A. were through but then Portugal eqaulised with seconds to go which means it's all down to the last group games on the day to see who goes through to the next stage. Must say I have been really impressed with U.S.A. not only this year but in previous World cups too.
Regards.

Thanks, Danny, our hopes are all on tomorrow...
We are big on football in our family as our grandson, Brendan Burgdorf, played soccer, as they call it here, all through High School and College...He was an All American player...Still plays occasionally on a Sunday with a group of Ukranian guys outside Philadelphia where he now lives...Never was interested until he started to play. Now we have three grandsons who play Lacrosse another exciting game as well. Lacrosse and soccer are now very big here in the US.

Hot, steamy day outside going up to the mid-eighties...then rain which will make it even more humid...But it is better than the freezing cold winter we had this year...brrrrrrr.

Hi Margaret,
Well congrats to the U.S.A. for qualifying to the next stage of the World cup, they have a never say die attitude which stands them in good steed , also they have a great manager too. Good luck to them in their next match [s]. Weather here in London the last few weeks has been pretty good Margaret with the temperature in the low-mid 70's which is just nice. I remember when I was bricklaying in Australia way back in the mid 1970's we started at 6 am and finished at 2 in the afternoon as the heat and humidty would be killing some days, then I headed off to a nice air-conditioned bar for a few cold beers :). Speak later Margaret God Bless you and all the Family.
Regards.
Danny. :)

Hi Margaret/ Danny been watching some games, Jerry said that if USA win it will open up a whole new ball game here as well as USA if they win. Hope they do well, weather is pretty clammy just a little rain today but a lot better than what it was a few weeks ago. Still not tried to fix this TV to get movies 4 men, but my TV doesn't have a name so I'll maybe just buy another one of those "doodahs" from Asda or some of the other shops.

Thanks, Danny and Amelia...Yes, everyone here was disappointed that they did not even score a goal but they did their best..I do not think they played their best game so we shall see what Tuesday brings...I think that is when the next game is coming up...Maybe Monday :?: :?:
It was on the news that industry lost millions and millions of dollars because of all the people watching the game the other day...I hate that...Everything is reduced to money, money, money.

Danny and Amelia,it was very, very hot here today...We went out to the Garden Store and I did not bring my sunhat along and I thought I was going to have a stroke...It was up near 88 degs. F. and I just cannot take the heat anymore...When I came here 54 years ago, the sun was not as hot as it is now, at least I don't think so...Now it is like someone is holding a heat lamp over your head...Came home went down into the basement, turned on the telly and stayed there for the rest of the afternoon...The plants are still waiting to get put in the ground...Maybe tomorrow after Mass...We shall see how hot it gets...
Enjoy your day tomorrow, but then it is already tomorrow at home.

Hi Margaret /Amelia +all the gang,
Ah well Amelia, I think we have so many tv channels to choose from you could look at the tv for 24/7 yet I remember when my Ma and Da got their first tv set [from Stirling Hunters shop in Crown st] way back in 1954 there was only one channel =BBC1, then about 57 we got ITV so that was only 2 channels and if I remember correctly it was like that till the mid 1960's. I do watch a bit of tv but it's mainly on Freeview with the old tv shows of abour 20 or so years ago, or I read a book or listen [as I am now] to Gold radio with all the pop hits of the 60/70's.
Margaret wasn't the USA so unlucky against Belgium , I thought they should have had got a draw and go on to penalty shoot out but it's done now, I hope Klinsman stays as their coach, they are getting better with every World cup so good luck to them. Today the temperature is about 80 F but I'm sitting indoors under my ceiling fan. Just getting over a Gout attack on my big toe [1st Gout attack in 4 years] and the pain was Murder Polis but its starting to ease now thanks be to God.
Well that's me for now folks so have a great weekend ahead, take care and God Bless.

Regards.

Hi Danny I got my TV from Napiers in Cumberland St. in 1958/9 it was the shop that used to have a mirror and if you stood at the side of it and lifted your arms you saw your whole figure
It is a bit like the shops called Bright House robbers they were. If you missed a payment they put on what was called operating costs so a TV finished up dearer than the asking price.
Do you remember Dotto that used to be on??
A coupe of weeks ago they ad a big march there was about 3000 at it they walked along Langside Dr/Allison St/ Calder St. and then up to the queenspark, it started at midnight I was to do with the women that have been raped in the Govanhill area it was on the TV getting terrible down that area.
I was telling a woman about the "Do" that was being held in the Glencairn club and se told me to tell you to take a wee bottle in as the drink is dear
No be long now Danny
Amelia :D

Hi Amelia,
yes I remember that tv show called "Dotto" the contestants answered Questions and if correct it linked the dots up and if I remember correctly when all the dots were filled in it gave you the face of a celebrity . I remember Bill Owen as the Host but that must have been back in the late 1950's or early 60's Amelia ?. Sorry to hear about all the Rapes that have been happening in the Govanhill area, that must leave those poor Women traumatised for the rest of their lives God Bless them, the sentences handed out nowadays are farcical Amelia, with all the " good remission" and Pool tables and tv sets in Prisons, surely Prisons are supposed to be a place to punish a Person for their crimes [it's all wrong as far as I'm concerned]. Those tv companies were just as you say Amelia nothing but robbers and if you missed a payment well it was bad news, same as those Loan Sharks that used to operate in the soo-side Jimmy Boyle, Frank Wilson etc, if you borrowed money off of them then you would be paying back for the rest of your life [swines all of them]. Thanks for the info about the prices about the Glencairn, yes maybe a wee hawf bottle in the Jaekit Poacket might help lol. Well that s me now Amelia, speak later, take care and God Bless.
Regards.
Danny. :)
