FAO Josie and Frank

I have my wee yellow street book in front of me and was looking it up don't know how old it is but it cost 2 shillings it is called Frames VP Street Directory of Glasgow in fact there is a phone number for your adverts to the Evening times you can contact Kathy Kyle at City 2800 if you want something advertised.
So here is information about the streets you have been talking about.
While we are speaking about the steamie and baths my uncle Wullie Currie came from Commercial worked in the swimming baths.
Portugal lane was off 16 Bedford St nearest main road was 154 Gorbals Street
Portugal Street was of 45 Norfolk Street nearest main road was Gorbals cross
Bedford Lane was of 154 Gorbals Street doesn't tell you nearest main road
Bedford Row was of Dunmore Street nearest main road was 104 Gorbals Street
Bedford St was of 111 Eglington Street opposite Cook St
Then there was a Dunmore lane which ran of 23 Norfolk is that where they used to kill and pluck the chickens it belonged to the Jews??
Dunmore Street was of 104 Gorbals Street
I always thought Dunmore Street came of Portugal Street was at the side of St Johns boys school just opposite the chapel
I'll need to get the thinking cap on or I'll ask my brother he ran about down there with a guy called Jimmy Shields

Hi Amelia, thanks for the info, I knew Jimmy and Charlie Shields we were at school together and played for St. Johns I still have some old team photos. Dunmore was a wee street between Portugal and Gorbals St, I can remember a a bakery shop where we used to get cinnamon buns. thanks Frank

Amelia, we already sussed it out, we had a map of the Gorbals dated 1910 which sorted us out, but thanks. :) Dunmore Street did run from Portugal St. to Gorbals St. :|
