I pass this place every other day but only in the last week have I noticed this! My head must be in the clouds too much!
Anyone have any memories of this at all?

Thanks for the links. My family had moved into the same maisonettes around the corner in 1967 and this must have happened around the same time.
I knew Fr Campion very well and some of the other names in the report may be people I know still today but I have never heard this mentioned before and the plaque didn't appear to have any event to mark it which was a pity. Still its served its purpose in causing us to recall the heroics and tragic events of the day itself. RIP.

This guy Graeme Kirkwood, gave me some info on the old fire station where I used to live in Nicholson St. I had been looking for any info about it and came across his name with regard to the fire service.

I always remember this tragic accident, I was 16 at the time and always cut through Cumberland Place on my way to work. It's always something that just never leaves your mind. Redscot.
