Amelia, I see you mentioned Barney's Bar in Moffat Street. My friend, Mary McGeady, has been trying to get information or a photo of this pub. Her mother worked in it.

Good Morning Rose it was at the corner of either Oregon St. or Orchid St I always got mixed up with the but there are still "auld yins" up here in Castlemilk that also stayed in Moffat St I'll ask them if they have any photos of it. If they have I'll post them onto you. I cannot remember if that was the name they had outside but it was Barney that owned it as one of the old neighbours brother was a priest over in Ireland and Barney always went up to Marys when her brother was home.

Could this possibly be "Barney's"? this is only one of the 3 pubs on Moffat Street listed. The Licensee being Bernard O'Donnell. There doesn't seem to be a photo though.

Thanks, Jimbo, but I already checked that one out. This one was definitely called Barney's Bar. Amelia, ask your friends if they remember a McGeady woman working in it. Cheers!

Hi Rose I remember one morning when mu hubby worked out in Tweedies tarmcadam in the Oatlands and he was crossing the road going to work and I saw him bending down a good few times and my cousin who stayed up the next close to us was shouting there's another onI cannot remember if it was pounds or what but they were soaking wet and Jerry had them hanging up in the house to dry

We had a good feed that night so I don't know if they belonged to someone coming out the pub or if it was Barneys but it fairly shoved me in for a few days

haven't seen anyone yet from Moffat St but I'll ask them when I do.
Amelia x

Hi Rose,
I'm sure someone mentioned something about Barney's bar [more or less when the Anecdotes started back up again, I've tried going back to find it but have been unlucky] maybe that person who posted about Barney's bar will see your post and can help you.
Amelia , my Da worked with Tweedies too and the yard was in Bilbao street but I don't think he was lucky enough to find any pound notes

.
Regards.
Danny

I can find absolutely NO reference to a Barney's/Barnie's Bar/Pub mentioned anywhere online, and lists extend back to the early 1800s and forward to the 1960s. It must have had a different name.

Hi Jimbo,
Sorry I must have made an honest mistake as I thought it was mentioned in a previous post , please accept my apology to you and Rose, I think it's good if you can hold your hands up and say I have made a mistake just like I have done.
Regards.

Danny, that post was not aimed at you. I wasn't looking on this site, I was searching for the pub online but can't find any mention of it. Sorry if you thought that was a dig at you.

Hi Jimbo.
No problem mate, I always hold my hands up if I make a mistake [quite often ha ha] and you're quite right to point out if anything hasn't been posted. I hope Rose can find out something about Barneys bar, I know somewhere in the back of my mind I either saw a photo of it or someone somewhere passed comment on it on some other site. Thanks for posting your message anyway Jimbo and don't worry we're still mates
Regards
Danny
