searching for Quinns

im new on here so bear with me, iv posted before on the old site this is different so im groping in the dark so far, so here goes folks just thought id try again nothing beats a try my AIM TO TrY TO GLEAM SOME INFORMATION ON MY great GANDPARENTS WHO I HAVE IT ON GOOD AUTHORITY CAME FROM Lanarkshire now their name was Quinn and as far as I know ran a rag store in the vicinity of St Johns Chapel I obtained a copy of a book called The gorbals an illustrated history and on showing it to my mother was told that the picture on page 39 was the place her Father had told her was his parents place there is a low wall extending from the Chapel and a little doorway does anyone remember what this place was in years past???? MAYBE I SHOULD EXPLAIN AT THIS POINT that my mother worked in Scotland from quite young she worked in many varied places but ended up working in Woolworths restaurant this was during the war well they were all reared in Donegal where incidentally Granda had the task of going it alone as my granny died the day of mum mums birth hER NAME WAS Agnes My grannys name was Bridget nee Gallagher from Donegal also just across the way from where the family lived my problem is that I do not have names for these people the thing is in order for me to get any further back I need those names My grandas name was hugh and it is looking like he was born in Scotland because the census record for the area in 1901 states he was born in Scotland but not sure if the parents were indeed Donegal people and fled to Scotland or if they were scotch one thing that intrigues me is tho they all three siblings were set up in Donegal a brother James and a sister whom I do not have a name for apparently was set up in a shop in fintown the nearby village, my granda was trained in the art of stonemasonry would anyone know if there were establishments who would have taken on young men and trained them???? I know this is a long shot as time has slipped away and not many people have relatives able to help even if you could set me on the right path on where I could get more info I would be ever so grateful for any tiny bit of help hope to hear from anyone who can Quinnsearch x

Hello, I went to St Johns Infant School across from St Johns, behind that door and low wall was the chapel garden, if it was anything else before the 1960's I don't know. If you look on page 30 of The Gorbals illustrated, the bottom photo, you can see the same gable end and extension of the wall in the left middle of the photo.
