Hi Folks,
Can you remember taking a walk over the Albert bridge up Saltmarket and having a mooch round Paddy's Market, the place was always buzzing and you could buy a rake of things from a sink to an old tin bath to old tools and rakes of clothes. Then you could haggle a wee bit over the price, there seemed to be Lorry-loads of clothes just laying there, this was our pre-Charity-shop for clothes ha ha. There was always a few good cafes there where you could get a good feed and a cup/mug of Tea that was that strong you could stand the spoon up in it lol. I wonder can anyone remember the name of that cafe jist down from Paddy's Market that served cabbage and ribs ?. Was such a shame they closed it down as not only us soo-sider's used it but people from all over Glasgow, anyone have memories of taking a trip there ?.

Regards.
Danny. :)

Hi Danny,
The name of the cafe near paddy's market was Alice's restaurant.

My Ma worked in it in the 60's

Cheers
