Email: jacic@hotmail.co.uk To Gorbals Jim from OZ, I have it on good authority, and it is good news, that John McCue is not dead. He was very ill a while back but I hear a mate of his picks him up every now and again on a Sunday and takes him to the Liptons Club in the Gorbals. Thought this would be good to hear....

I was born in St Francis in July 63, lived in Roseberry St, Regent Street and then at 56 Crammond Street in the Gorbals. Went to St Bonaventures for Primary one. I remember the year they did the experiment with the clocks and it was pitch black going to school. My mother came from Spittal. Ann Haughey and I have been looking for pictures of her for years. Anyone have any? My mums date of birth is 25 May 1942. She went to St Columkills in Rutherglen, her brother is Mick Haughey, Frank and also Robin. The girls are Margaret and Betty.

We were raised in Wolseley St and stayed at 188, Roy Ankara the boxers close. Chris might have been my big sister Marion's boyfriend. I met him in East Kilbride and became very friendly with him and his wife about twenty years ago. If it is him I would love to hear from him again. Hi does anyone remember Silverfir Street? Myself and 5 brotherrs and sisters came from there, we all went to bonnies i was the youngest and left Silverfir Street in 1958. I hung about with Rose Douglas (my best school friend) and Mary and Rita McEwan her cousins, there was also Mary Kane who lived up the same close as Rose, Bobby Wilson and the Friels lived up the same close as me number 22. The rag store was on the corner at Caledonia Rd (almost) and alex Aitkens dairy was just round the corner in Caledonia road as well. We all hung about the richmond park and the ducksy where we must have had 500 photos taken. I only have 1 brother left now Chris and we would like to hear from anyone who might remember us. I lived at 47 McNeil Street my Husband lived at No.38. We both remember the Lochrie family. We remember Mary and her husband George Walker emigrating to Canada with their young family I believe Mary took ill on the boat and was ill for some time in Canada, they eventually came back I did not see Mary but saw her husband his hair had turned white. We had married left McNeil Street by then, but I was visiting my Mother when Jackie Lochrie (Marys brother) and Robert Vage who was his next door neighbour came in to tell us all about Canada, can't remember if they left before Mary or after they were very young late teens or early 20s home for a visit. Mary also had a brother James who was a friend of my husbands he was in the R.A.F. during the war. I remember a young sister think we called her Sibby. My husband thinks there was another daughter called Sadie but I dont remember her. Marys Mother was called Molly cant remember her fathers name he was always very smart little man, Think! Mary was a dancer in Queens theatre Glasgow Cross she was a very pretty girl in fact they were a good looking family. Don't know what happened to Marys family when they came back as we had moved to England by then. One thing we can't agree on, the colour of Georges hair my husband says it was dark I thought it was reddish. I remember a little girl with long red wavy hair another pretty girl. Hope some of this info helps you with your family tree. We visited Glasgow last year as I was doing my tree found lots of info. at Mitchell libary and Genealogical Index. GOOD LUCK
