I was born In the Gorbals In 36 right at the cross above the old dentist can't remember his name, I am looking for any of the Lynch family or the King family that lived there, I left for the States in 59 but the gorbals will always belong to my heart.

My parents, Mary Devlin & Michael Harkin from Co.Donegal, Ireland were married in St.John's chapel Glasgow on 29th May 1950.They stayed in accommodation in the Gorbals. Their bridesmaid was an Evelyn Wright, 41 Cumberland St. I would like to hear from anyone who knows Evelyn or who remembers my parents.

I remember visiting a family from Donegal (Bloody Foreland) called Ferry who lived at Rosyth Street G5 in the early eighties. Their names were Hugh and Annie (both deceased now I think) and they had three of a family, Marion, Sally and Connie. Very happy memories of my visit at that time. Does anyone know them or know where they may have moved to??

Does anybody remember my mum and dads family, they where the Donnellys from abbotsford place 45a. My dads family where traynors of 49 lawmoor st, my dad had 3 brothers george, tommy and eddie and 3 sisters mary, margaret and betty. My mums family where grandmother called sara, granda called thomas, sons called hughie, tim and daughters called hellen, cathleen, mary, teresa, philomena and patsy. My gran had a boarding house and used to take in lodgers.

My dad lived in Anderson most of his youth but also lived in the Gorbals for some time and went to school there. His name was Thomas Gallagher and he was born in 1942, he had a sister called Margaret. He was in the Dragoon Guards and the Scots Greys, he later changed his name to Hay. He passed away about 5 years ago so if anyone has any information or storys they would like to share please contact me.

Billy Dock Honk Kong - Hi Billy I think you would be better trying to get the Glasgow site as this site is mainly for the people that lived in the Southside of the city mainly the Gorbals people. The blue stuff that you were talking about was called Genian Violet don't know if that is the right spelling, you used to get it put on if you had a "Scabby" mouth or a sore. Hope this helps you. Hi looking for anyone who lived in the Gallowgate around the 1960s. I am also looking for the name of the Bridgeton Cross Clinic that was near the Bru (dole)..The street name and the Clinic name would be help-ful. I used to run around with my arse hanging out my trousers with a shaved head (due to lice) The clinic would generously splash on this purple Paint (can't remember the name?) The walk of shame was in order in St Marys primary School after the clinic. I also suffered Wring worm and was made to swallow a sweet sickly liquid, that would always make me vomit? If anybody can share names or any information about this period in the Gallowgate, i will be one happy camper. I am very wealthy and live in Hong Kong, i never thought i would make it this far. What a great site. Brought back many warm memories. I was born in Rutherglen Road and we then moved to 246 Thistle St. I attended St. Francis school in 1940 then Holyrood in 1947. Loved the sense of community. The bonfires at Guyfox night and when the War ended. Trying to locate my second cousin Ian Gregg of Townhead. Son of Robert Gregg, 106 Caledonia road and Nancy. I too would like to know about this book "Wandering and Pondering" as I stayed in Salisbury St. and there was a family who stayed up stairs in the same close as our family and they were called Mitchell. There was Joe, John,Cathie and Charles they moved up to Pollok or some of the schemes in that area. I think their parents were Polish or luthanians.

For the person who was asking about Rosebury Park it was a football ground in the Oatlands. My son played for his school football team and they played for a final in it.(They won) There is the Richmond Park it is on Rutherglen Road also in the Oatlands at the present they are digging part of it up I think it was the sandpit don't know if they are building on it. Shame on the council if they are.

I am researching my family tree. The Munn's of Old Kilpartick, who moved to Crown Avenue. Does anyone know if they have family still there. My great grandfather and his four brothers were all killed in WW1 between 1915-1918. Their mother Margaret Munn nee McAulay died in 1906, and father James in 1945. I do not know what happened to the sisters Jessie and Margaret, although Margaret married and became a Paton. I have just come back from a trip to the Mitchell Library. Thank you.
