That's great to hear that you are going to contact the folks living in your old house.
I would address it to either the Residents, or to the Occupants, then the Blaeloch part and then put ground floor, house on the right side as you enter building (or left, whichever it is).

I'm sure the postman will have seen a lot stranger things in the way of how you address it, so no worries there.

We'll all be anxious to hear the outcome from your card, please keep us updated! Cheers, Sheila

Hi Braveheart. the flats in the tenements are, as you look at the front of the building:-

ground left =0/1, right =0/2
1st floor left =1/2, right =1/1
2nd floor left =2/2, right =2/1
3rd floor left =3/2, right =3/1

as long as you remember which flat then the rest is easy, shouldn't matter that you don't have a surname. You could just put the Occupier on the envelope.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have sent the card today addressed as you have recommended. It would make my Christmas if I heard back from the people who live there. Hope I don't get a knock on my front door and find the " POLIS " standing there asking questions!!!

Och well if that happens just give all our names as co-conspirators and tell them as we're in all different countries, they better get Interpol on the job. If the Polis come knocking I think I will hire Beltrami as my defence lawyer, he was good and had a big reputation in Glasgow. That is, if he is still alive!

Glad to hear your Hubby wants to retire in Scotland, maybe one day it will happen. I kind of fancy doing the same thing myself, maybe a little retirement bungalow in Clarkston or Bearsden! I should be so lucky Maybe I could persuade the folks that live at my old address in Castlemilk to move into my bungalow and I could move back into my old home!!!!! YIPPEEE

Hi John that's great that everyone has rallied round to help you achieve your longing I don't know if those houses come under the GHA(Glasgow Housing Association) or they come under Thenew as everythng is broken up into housing associations, if I can recall they used to have an office in Blaeloch.
Hope you are lucky, maybe I'll hear in the chapel or along at the shops that someone from abroad is trying to get access in thehouses 31 Blaeloch

Thank you Amelia and to all of you for your kind words of encouragement, it means a lot.

Meant to tell you all what I put in the card......

"Hi to the folks who live at my old address.

I know that this may seem a bit strange receiving a card from a complete stranger! But I have said for years I was going to do this, to make contact with the people who live at a house where I and my sisters grew up. We have so many memories growing up there, in fact two of my sisters were born in the house.

My Mother and Father along with myself and two Sisters moved there from the Gorbals in around 1959 when the house was first built and we all stayed there until the early 70's. Coming from the Gorbals at that time, as you can imagine, not used to an inside toilet, a bathroom, separate bedrooms and a kitchen, it was a thrill to move in to No31, a very special memory indeed.

I can understand that in these times it may be a bit concerning receiving mail from a complete stranger, and for that I sincerely apologise. But I feel better for sending this card.

I hope one day we might meet and say hello in person and see my old home.

Myself and my family wish you and your loved ones a very special and happy Christmas and good new year.

Hi John that was a lovely message you sent to the neighbours up number 31 Blaeloch if I got that message I would be delighted after reading it. Thee are a lot of people on the bus from your old area when it reaches my stop at Dougrie at Castleton school so I will keep my ears open o hear if anyone mentions it and let you know

As for my hubby retiring in Scotland, that's his dream John not mine. Now regarding the message you sent to the folks in your old house, I thought it was lovely and a special touch with the Christmas card. I'm really hoping you get a reply if not maybe we'll send Amelia to the door to ask what their problem is? Just kidding Amelia! I just keep believing something good will come out of this.

Thanks for your comments. That would be the No37 probably Amelia? Yeah the people that lived in the Blaeloch area would get the No31, but if they couldn't it would be the 37 and walk the rest of they way, so nothing has changed much then!

You are spot on it was Joe Beltrami. I think it would be a question of applying for legal aid, I don't think we could afford Beltrami's fees or any others for that matter!

Can just imagine Amelia knocking on the door Bless her heart, she probably would an all. Yeah, I put my full address on there along with my e-mail and phone number, so if they want to know more they will be able to contact me by text, e-mail or letter.

Hey Amelia, my sister lives in Holmbyre and those houses belong to Thenew so its a safe bet that Blaeloch does too.
