Hi Sheila and Amelia...Nothing to do with the McNeil Street Library but I see you are both suffering from the cold or the flu, so here is a wee tip if you have a bad cough...Get some Vicks, yes, Vicks and rub it on to the soles of your feet, then put on a pair of cotton socks and do this before you go to bed at night...I find it works great and also good for the wee ones as well...Try it, you have nothing to lose. Hope you both feel better soon.

Today the temps reached 40 degs, F...a veritable heatwave for us here in New Jersey. It will help melt some of the snow we have been having the whole month of February, about 60 inches of it around here, and Friday it is supposed to rain. So that, too, will help...

Danny, everyone calls me Margaret except the old man...he calls me Marg.. I don't care what you call me as long as it isn't to early in the morning....A joke.

Girls stay well and God Bless...Margaret

Hi Margaret thanks for the tip funny you should tell me this, on one of the craft shows the other week one of the presenters was loaded and she said someone told her to rub the Vick on the soles of her feet I thought she was havering. I had been rubbing it on my chest and under the nose and felt that along with the Menthol crystals helped a lot but I am left with a cough and when I start coughing you know what happens  Glad you've got some information on "Higgie" hope it is the same person.

Hi Margaret
Thanks so much for the tip, will be trying this for sure tonight. Will try anything at this point. Desperate for a wee cuddle with my Grand kids and can't go near them while I have this. Cough sounds like a dog barking. Glad your weather has improved, it's snowing here at the moment. Hope this doesn't last but I know compared to the weather you got, this is nothing.
Amelia I hope your much better now. Still not up to making the caramel shortbread, but hopefully I'll get it on it soon. Not sure if I can get the menthol crystals here (I do remember them from back home)but will check into that too, thanks for that info. Did try steaming with towel over my head, all that did was make my face the colour of beetroot. Take care everyone and Hi to Danny too! Cheers, Sheila

Hi Amelia, Margaret and Shelia,
Well that's a new one on me about rubbing Vic on the sole on your feet but Neccessity is the Mother of invention and I will try that for sure :) . Yes Shelia the Libraries have all changed so much since the auld days of McNeil st, I can also go online and order a book [50 pence] if it's not in my local Library and you can go to one of the computers inside the Library to find where a certain book is, what shelf, section etc where it can be found. Then after choosing your book you can sit down and have a tea/coffee while perusing your book. It's a wee bit like the Bookies shops nowadays [not that I'm a gambler but good luck to those who are] you can have a hot drink and sandwich while watching all the TV screens with the different race-tracks etc. Sure is all change from when we were weans and the Black Mariah used to come and drag punters from the bookies and take them to the Police station and charge them for being in a Bookmakers shop !!!!. Well girls the weather here in London has been really wet since Xmas although as I'm typing the sun is shining but showers are forecast, hope all your colds get better real soon and speak to you all later, take care and God Bless.
Regards.
Danny :)
