Coming Back Soon

Hi Everyone,

I sincerely apologise for my somewhat abrupt and protracted absence, but it was out of my control. A couple of months ago I was baby sitting my little Grandson and had just served up his lunch to him when I decided to start up my computer mainly for his entertainment when he started to get a bit grumpy about not sitting right next to me to see what was going on in the screen, so I moved him over at the dining table on his hi chair and just as I was adjusting the safety legs at the back of his chair I could hear him giggling his head off and jumping up and down with great excitement, I stood up to discover that his bowl of cereal and a few other unmentionables were sitting very proudly in the middle of my laptop keyboard My laptop was only 18 months old

After taking it in to a repair shop they told me it would need major surgery and I would have to leave it with them to assess what was needed to repair it. Six weeks later I got the laptop back from them along with a big invoice which was bad enough but it only lasted about 3 hours before it just went blank again
They came and took it away again and I got it back from them yesterday! So I'm hoping all is well now, we will see

Hi John,
Great hearing from you, sorry to hear about your lap-top and hope it's up and running now. Lap-tops, computers, mobile phones etc, they're all a part and parcel of our everyday lives now, yet years ago hardly anybody had a TV set or land-line phone in their Tenement house [early 1950's]. Just shows you John how we have changed lol. I look at people here in the streets of London and they're walking along the street texting on their phones without looking where they're going !!!! ha ha. Anyway John great hearing from you again , will speak later take care and God Bless.

Hi Danny,

Nice to hear from you too pal. Yeah technology today is unbelievable at times, so many devices available compared to when we were kids. You are right, the only phone I ever seen in those days was inside a Red box and you needed money to use it. Money, what was that! Never seen too much of that about neither .

Hi John glad your back this site has been very slow as there is a new kid on the block "facebook" with photos of some of the Gorbals people I had a wee glance at it didn't go through it all but didn't know anyone must be a lot younger than me.
Sorry about your laptop pity you didn't stay up here my hubby has started tinkering about with them and he has sorted a lot out .T he guy u the stair from us was throwing one out and my hubby took t off him opened it up and went onto the computer and finished up fix for £50 you should have seen the guys face when he saw it up and running.

HI Amelia...Welcome back and it is good to see your "Hale and Hearty." Although I hear from my sisters, who see you now and again, it is nice to see your name on here again...Hope you and the hubby are feeling good once more...Did you get all your knitting done? I checked out that facebook as well but I like it here better, too...Did not know anyone on it but enjoyed some of the pictures on there.

Hi Amelia,

Nice to know you and your husband are well. Yeah had a lot of problems with my laptop after my little Grandson decided to sabotage it Bless him. It is very helpful when you know a little bit about the inside of these things as you can save quite a bit of money. Had I known your husband could have taken a look at it I would have made plans to bring it along personally, that would have been a ready made excuse for paying a quick visit to my beloved Scotland. Ah well, still hoping to pay a visit there sometime this year.
