Hi Amelia and Danny...Yes, Amelia, I remember that shop with the mirrors...Before it was a TV shop it was Forbes the Drapers....My mammy used to buy us clothes in there after the war when the coupon rationing was lifted...I can remember the big wide counters and they had a pulley above the counter that the hung stuff on like Aprons and tablecloths and pillow cases...Not with clothes pins but just hung them over the wooden slats...Also all the clothes came from big cardboard boxes on the shelves, except the dresses they were in the back...I was supposed to work in that TV shop but I went to Rothesay the weekend before the Monday I was due to start work and got the Asian flu...Got myself up out of bed and went in and stayed half an hour and then left...They sent someone up to my house to say I was fired...ha. ha.

Now Danny, we are very proud of all the attention the USA team got especially the goalie...He is from New Brunswick, NJ, not far from where I live here in the Garden State...Also, Danny, I would not tell everyone you are taking a "Carryoot" to the Glencairn as they might frisk you on your way in and you will get a big "Riddie." ha. ha. Also, Danny we are having lovely weather here today and yesterday in the low '80's with low humidity but the rest of the week is going to be fierce...Up in the '90's with high humidity so I am away to get some messages in today so I don't have to go out for the rest of the week...Thursday was the big Fourth of July celebration here and lots of everything, like picnics, fireworks and trips to the beach had to be canceled because on the storm Arthur that came up the East coast...It poured and poured all day with terrible high winds...So that is all the news for now...
Have a good week both of you.
Margaret

Hi Margaret,Amelia +gang,
Well I don't know [remember] if I told you in another Post but I had an attack of Gout Last week in my big toe, that's the first Gout attack that I have had in 4 years and oh the pain. I felt it coming on last Monday morning and by Tuesday I coodny bend my big toe and had to hobble about putting my weight on my heel, anyway by Friday morning it was gone thank God and I had a few beers over the weekend but today Tuesday 8th it has come back again but luckily I have found some meds for it that I used to take so hopefully they do the trick . Talking about shops Margaret and Amelia did you ever remember going into a shop [Co-op maybe] and when you paid the assistant he/she put your money and bill in an overhead "thingymajig" that was connected to overhead wires and it "zinged" it's way up to the cashier who put your change back into it and "zinged" it back to you assistant, it was like watching something from outer space for me as a wean lol. Yes might not take a wee hawf bottle cause if it was found I certainly would get a big "riddy" and as I'm sitting on the door at a table [I'm donating 2 of my books for a Charity that night , either Gorbals Pensioners or for the local Hospice and have to sit at the front entrance with the Raffle tickets] so will just pay for the drinks whatever they cost as I don't "want to get lifted" ha ha..
That was sad that the U.S.A. got knocked out of the World cup but what a fight they put up and right down to the dying seconds they could have equalised !!!. we had a great run of weather here Margaret for a while but now it's a lot cooler with some rain again. Anyway Peeps that's me off for a while now, speak to you all later. Take care and God Bless.

Regards.
Danny :)

HI Danny, how is your leg with the gout? I believe that is a very painful condition
I think you will have to say off of the beer for a wee while, at least, until you go to the reunion...
We are getting ready to watch the game this afternoon and see if Brazil can redeem itself..
Tomorrow we are going to have our present Pope and the last Pope both praying for their team to win...So let's see which one wins and we know God has a direct line to him...The Pope that is...God Bless them both..
I wonder if they have bets on against each other...
Hot again here today but no humidity...ahhhhhhh...great.
Enjoy all the games and "Stay aff the beer."
Margaret

Hi Margaret,
I'm afraid that Brazil are not the Team that they used to be, so looks like a change of most of the team and Manager will have to happen, it was the same as Spain they were the World Champions last year but sadly they have become yesterdays men, so out with the old and in with the new Margaret. I think myself that Germany will win by the odd goal 1-0 or 2-1. Yes I wonder Pope will be "celebrating" after the match ?. This is my second attack of Gout now, the first one lasted 3 days and then I had a beer and it came back so as You sy will have to give it longer this time :( . Weather hasn't been too bad, plenty of sunshine with the odd day of rain [rain that's the Glesga Fair Fortnight weather ha ha].
Talking about humidity, when I was bricklaying in my younger days in Australia [1974-6] when I was in my mid 20's the humidity was terrible Margaret in fact if we were working outside the city we would start at 6am and finish at 2.30. Every time I bent down to lay a brick the sweat would just drop off of me and the flys used to drive me mad, I coodny wait till I was finished work and straight into the air-conditioned bar for a cold beer or two lol.
Well that's me now Margaret so enjoy the World cup final tonight my friend, take care and God Bless. x

Regards.
Danny :)
