Hi everyone thanks for the congratulations and happy birthday to you Reg gosh 66 add 13 years on to that and that's my age. I really don't feel like 79 might look it but  well my brain doesn't feel like 79 as I keep it active watching grandweans I put my foot down to watching great grandweans as I have looked after them all as the oldest is 33 to let the parents go out to work, I also do a lot of craft work i.e. making cards and knitting doing Soduko sometimes I cheat when the games get harder
I have been watching a programme on TV called Hotel India it fairly opens your eyes at the wealth and poverty. It features the Taj Mahal hotel rooms are from £2000 to £9000 a night I'll maybe book it up for a week for our anniversary  and not far from it the people are begging and selling their wares to feed themselves.
Could any of you blokes tell me what is it about the beards with the young ones  my own grandson is growing one is must be a faize they are going through, I remember when my da was needing a shave he used to give us "beardy" and we would all run away from him squelling it was bloody sore
For the TV still broken Jerry looked up the computer and figured out what was the matter with it so he has sent for a part for it, it's coming tomorrow so if this doesn't work we will have to stump up and buy a new one but they have gone down a bit in price, we have one in the bedroom but it is too much hassle to bring it out into the living room, it's amazing how much you miss it when it isn't there it's like water you never miss it 'til the well runs dry.
I'll close now so goodnight to you all and don't be drinking to much Vino Reg

Hi Amelia,
Well hope your anniversary went well for you and Hubby, Reg's birthday on the same day too [and also my grand daughter Phoebe who was 9 years old that day]. I remember my Da giving us "beardy" with his unshaven face and me and my sister Jeanette ran like blazes away from him. Hope your telly gets fixed Amelia and yes you sure do miss it when it's not working or can get a new one at a good discount price [remember Stirling Hunters shop in Crown st for TV sets etc]. Sad to see all the opulence in India alongside the Poverty, I'm afraid it's the sad case of the haves and haves not although at least no one will go hungry in this country [or shouldn't] with the social security system we have. Will finish for now Amelia , take care and God Bless. x
Regards.

Hello, Amelia ,Danny , Everyone,
Amelia I could never grow a beard and some of the youngsters of today prefer to look "cool "
and not shaving and wearing torn jeans at the knees , earings and not forgetting the odd few
tattoos? Just trying to look different and cool in there own way. Good luck to them all . I remember
attending David Dale College in 1963 and there was a fellow student called Alan Stewart and
we nicknamed him "Boob " and I cant remember why? I rememder he was the the class comedian and he
had let his hair grow to past his shoulders and I remember thinking he looked pretty "Cool" and of course
that was the start of the Beatles era.So every generation is putting there own fashion and style mark.

I also watched Hotel India with interest and was interested in the different "Caste
system that they have or pecking order. My father was born in Calcutta and was educated at St.
Joseph,s School in Darjeeling and left that Country age 17. Wind forward 1959 and my father worked in the
Drawing Office of a Shipyard in Scotsoun earning about 20 pound a week .
On a couple of occasions my father met an Indian Sailor from one of Indian merchant ships in Glasgow and both my father and his aquaintance would be speaking in a very fast "Urdu".
The visitor did not speak a word of English but Iwas able to deduce from the conversation that he was
earning 1/6 < one and sixpence a week> at this time and we were a big family but this wee Indian guy
brought a gift to my mother of a seven pound bag of rice .
People can have so little yet give so much. :)
Danny amazing the Coincidence of the 13th Oct.

Take care and best regards Reg :)
