Santa's coming soon.

Post by DannyGill »

Hi Gang,
Well it wont be long till Santa pays us all his yearly visit, I was just wondering can you remember back to when you were a wean in the days of the old Tenements and you hung a sock at the bottom of your bed. You woke up on Christmas morning and there was an apple or orange and maybe a wee packet of sweeties in it ? or maybe a wee parcel too if you were lucky. Were you like me writing down on a piece of paper what you wanted Santa to bring you then threw it on the open fire and it was sucked up the chimney and your Ma would watch what you writing down [to Santa] and saying remember don't ask for too much as Santa has so many boys and girls to visit. Then I remember going to Lewis's in Argyle street and queuing for Santa's grotto and getting a wee John Bull printers outfit and your hands were covered in ink for days after !!!!. It seems back in those days we really appreciated whatever we got whereas today the kids seem to tell their parents what they want and it costs a bloomin fortune. What's your memories of Christmas time folks ?.

Regards.
Danny :)

Hi Danny I remember Christmas time as a kid all the excitement of what Santa might bring you (if you were lucky  ) At the end of the day sitting with your Broons book and eating chocolate from your selection box. Loved it when I got a tangerine in my stocking. Like you said it's changed days and kids today all into technology and nothing is cheap. Saw my 3 year old grand daughter playing with a tablet and told her to put her Mom's tablet down in case she broke it and she informed it was her tablet not her Mom's :o Don't know where we go from here if 3 year olds are already using tablets  I have 3 grandkids all 3 and under so while I look forward to Christmas and seeing the fun they'll have I can only imagine the amount of stuff they'll get and will probably sit there thinking how different their Christmas is compared to ours as kids. Take care Danny and as usual I enjoyed your post. Cheers, Sheila :D

Hi Shelia,
That's what I mean "changed days" lol. my grand-kids are the same in fact they have no problems with picking up an I-pad or Tablet and showing us what to do ha ha. At Xmas time it's still a special time of the year as we celebrate the birth of Our Lord but it's all way too commercialised fo me nowadays with stores just out to see how much profit they can make. Take care Shelia you and Hubby and all the Family. x

Regards.
Danny :)
