Hi Patsy, well my friend finally got back to me, she was on holiday for a week, and said she looked in the phone book for Smiths on Burleigh Terrace and there was listing for a Smith staying on that street.
So the only thing I can suggest that you do is go on www.ayradvertiser.com and put a little request in there. You never know what you could get from doing that.
Sorry, I could not help you more with this.
Good luck in your search, and enjoy your holiday back home.
Margaret

Hello Margaret,
Firstly many thanks for the information from your friend in AYR.
I really appreciate your interest.
I will forward an email to the advertiser in AYR.
Thank your friend for me.
We leave next Wednesday for the UK. Point of interest Margaret, our journey is 24 hours
of flying time!!!!! and I HATE flying!!!! Downside living so far away from Europe (the other side of the world)
On our return I will give you an update, I feel very positive that we may be able to find a relative from my
Dad's family.
I also intend to find BURLEIGH Terrace.
Once again many thanks Margaret
Regards
Patsy (from DOWNUNDER)

Hi, I was reading through your posts and noticed that you mentioned Burleigh Terrace. The virtual mitchell (the online version of the MITCHELL LIBRARY) The street search on there says there was a Burleigh St in Govan, there are a few photos of it but they are all photos of shop fronts. Don't know if the street is the same place you were looking for but it may help.

Hi Patsy, I know what you mean about long flights...When I go home from here in New Jersey, it is only a seven hour flight over and then six hours coming back, depending on tailwinds.
I wish you luck in your search for your relatives. I am sure this is a one-time only trip home as you live so far away.
God Speed and love your holiday, I know you will be as welcome as the Flowers in May. I love going home....
