Re: congratulations
Hi Ann,
How are you doing we havn't spoke for ages now, that's when it was the old Gorbals anecdotes, I've got to say that I'm finding it a bit "strange" trying to figure out the new format here but hopefully If I persist it will all fall in place. Hope all the family are doing well Ann, I visited Glasgow in Late September of last year and went down the soo-side but it's all changed since I left Glasgow in 1968 [a lifetime ago !!!].The Hutchytown bowling club is still there but as I stood and looked over at where Fauldhouse street stood [big Bonnies and the steamie and where I was born n bred]it has all changed with new housing and to be fair to the planners/architects they have done a good job. Although it was heartbraking to walk along the Cally Rd and all the old tenements had gone, went in to the pig n Whistle pub in McNeil st and had a good craic with the local punters, walked through the Gorbals but it had all vanished, I used to drink in the Cleland in Hospital st that was gone too, ah well the memorys are alive in our mind Ann.That was the first time in 45 years since I had visited the auld place and it has all completely changed, St Francis Chapel still stood but no longer a church, ach well hope to speak soon Ann, take care and God Bless.

Re: hello
Hi Norrie,
Thanks I did reply to your e mail in regards to you reading my autobography "Have trowel will travel" if anyone is interested in my life story you can click on http://www.shieldcrest.co.uk/have_trowe ... ravel.html Basically covers my growing up in the soo-side, serving my apprenticeship as a bricklayer and leaving Glasgow in 1968 to build bricks halfway round the world, the ladies in my life, my fondness for a drink and my years in Irish Politics which resulted in death threats against me. I tell my story with no airs and graces and pull no punches about my behaviour or others, I also wrote it in a lighthearted manner so it dosen't become boring. Main reason for writing my book was so the memory of my Ma and Da is always remembered, we all support different football teams and hold varying political views [which is fair enough] mylife story depicts mine. I have a few photos of my family and myself in U.S.A. and London and a few of the soo-side [kindly given to me by Norrie McNamee]. Glad to see the "Gorbals anecdotes" is back again take care and God Bless.

Re: hello
Hi Rose glad you got the link for my autobiography "Have Trowel Will Travel" it's just the life story of a wee Glasgow/Irishman, telling my travels building bricks in different countries, the ladies in my life, and my liking for a drink and death threats made against me for my involvement in Irish politics. if any one was interested go to Amazon and click on their kindle books , type in have trowel will travel and my book comes up and you can read the first couple of chapters online [for free] to give you a taste of my book and as a bonus you can see my 1957 school class photo from wee Bonnies, there are more photos in the middle of the book. People might want to buy a copy or not [no probs], but at least it's worth having a wee look.redscot wrote:Hello Danny
