Dr. Taylor, the dentist
Dr. Taylor, the dentist
Does anyone remember Dr. Taylor and his location? I remember going to him a few times but can't remember if his surgery was on Crown Street or just where it was. Sheila

Re: Dr. Taylor, the dentist
Hey Sheila, I remember Dr Taylor the dentist, he was my dentist for a while. He later moved to one of the shop units under the Caledonia Rd flats, I used to go to him there too until we moved to Castlemilk. I don't know how long he was there for.

Re: Dr. Taylor, the dentist
Hi Sheila was his premises not at the corner of Crown St. and old Rutherglen road facing the Wheatsheaf pub remember going to him once but I was a crapper hated the dentist thank goodness I don't have that problem now they get put in a wally cup with a steredent tablet at night sometimes I take them out as soon as I come in from the shops or the town even eat without them.
What a subject to be talking about HA!HA!
when I went to the dentist in Castlemilk a couple of years ago I asked him to make them as white as Simon Cowel needless to say he didn't must have thought I was dithering old codger talking a lot of crap.

Hi Josie & Amelia
Thanks for your replies. Amelia I thought too that his office was at Crown St and Old Rutherglen Rd but sometimes think I'm mixing up the streets. I remember going up the close to his office, think he was one up. I know he gave me gas to take out a tooth and when I came out I nearly took a header down the stairs I was so dizzy. I seem to remember I just had to cross the street to get the tram car along to Oatlands. Amelia I had a good laugh at you and your wallies and wanting them the colour of Simon Cowell's. Guess Simon doesn't go to that Dentist in Castlemilk eh?
Speaking of false teeth, I remember one morning my Dad came out his room (he lived with us) and said he couldn't find his teeth. He had had a few wee swallies the night before and didn't know what he had done with the teeth. I hunted for an hour before I found them under his pillow so I asked him did he think the tooth fairy was making a visit? He was about 85 at the time and had a right good laugh about it. Funny how somebody on here says something and it just triggers another memory for me. love it! Thanks again.

Re: Dr. Taylor, the dentist
When I went to Taylor's dentist the Wheatsheaf wasn't the pub anymore, it was plastered with posters for Lennoxs sweet shop. I thought his surgery was further along Crown St towards Ballater St.

Hi Josie
I honestly can't exactly recall where he was located, I think I remember a pub across the street but then there was pubs on every st just about!
I'm sure someone on here must remember for sure where he was at. Maybe even lived up the close he worked out of. Come on Gorbals folks solve the mystery where was Taylor the Dentist's surgery? Many thanks, Sheila

I REMEMBER HIM WELL........OUCH I'm sure it was the bottom end of crown street, one up in a close............oh the smell of ether, he had a wee woman nurse, she was tiny with blond curly hair. Never forget that mask....I can still see that close and remember the fear of climbing those stairs

That's what I remember too, the next corner along would have been Ballater St. Coming from Nicholson St I would have gone up Old Rutherglen Rd and turned left at Crown St for the dentist.
Re: Dr. Taylor, the dentist
What did you call the optician further up Crown St, on Lennox side? He then moved to Norfolk St, near Eglinton St. I went to him for years, and can't remember his name...aaargh!
Re: Dr. Taylor, the dentist
Taylor the dentist was one up on the last close in Crown Street before Rutherglen Road, above the Bank, I stayed in the middle close 142, and I can always remember playing football in the Dentist,s back , you could smell all the teeth etc in the midden, Jim Donovan stayed next door to him for a while
