hi Amelia,
First of all thanks for your support and kind comments.
It was a curiousity one night about a couple of months ago about what happened to a friend of my
older brother s. As yet I am none the wiser but I have found out that he had a sister as well as a
brother. So that is progress, but I do feel that some folk who came from the "Gorbals" seem to view
the area as some sort of stigma and sometimes do not want to admit there roots.
I personally feel a real affinity with all the people I have hooked up with and there was no shame in
being poor . I take Robbie Burns view "That the honest man so er say poor is King of men for aw that
and aw that" Because of my wonderful memories from the limited years I spent in the Gorbals they
have never diminished even after all this time.!
And yes you are right the site is blessed with folk like Jimbo who for me has been absolutely
brilliant and that that he dug up will be added to family history that I am trying to collate and putting the picture together with story I was told of the final minutes before all the the crew got on board
that Lifeboat that saved there lives. Once again thanks for your comments.
Best regards Reg x
P.S A c. Cobra was a lifebelt<of a car > that I built over a 2 year period but had to sell it to stave of Bankruptcy so we all at one time or other find a similar device in the journey of life.!!!
