Hi Tweedlie5,
My Name is Danny Gill and I was born in Fuldhouse st [where big Bonneies and the steamie stood] and Caledonia rd was just round the corner, many a time I went to the Ritz picture house for the mattinee sho Saturday mornings and climbed over the wall of the graveyard in Cally rd. As you say those far off days were great for us all it was a crying shame they pulled all the old tenements down but that's progress I suppose but what a great community spirit. I hope this new site can get back to the way it was when it was Gorbals anecdotes, it took me a while to fathom out the new site here and I'm sure other people have teething problems too but if they persevere then we will all be posting again. Nice talking to you Tweedlie5 hope we can speak later so long for now.

Hi Tweedlie..just a wee note about the old photos...I think they're probably the same ones I had, But I was told I was breaching copyright by sharing them...so be careful you don't get into trouble. There was no info to say who owned them, so no way of knowing they were under copyright. Enjoy the new site!

Hi everyone,I was born in hallside st lived there till i was thirteen moved to easterhouse but me and my brother still hung about there eventually moved to london were i have lived for over 40yrs. still remember a lot of old names from the Hallside st, it is a shame that we cannot go back and visit cant even show our kids or grandkids were we came from, still i suppose we all have our memories they cant take them away if only we could turn the clock back. anyway hope to find a few people from the area or people who might have know them would love to know how their lives went.

Hi Welcome1,

I too came fro Hallside Street and went to Camden Street School, and then moved to Castlemilk when I was around 10 years old. Quite a lot of my family were living there at the same time, your family probably knew my family or you may even be related!
