Gorbals Children, study the photos closely and point out to me the photo that is not of Gorbals :D
Hi Norrie, I'm glad you say that Peter Mortimer has put a script beside all the photos because this does enhance the book's photos and remember there will be people reading the book that do not come from the greater Gorbals area. So the script I believe is very important Norrie and I'm sure that Peter has put a lot of hard work into his book, I cant wait till it come through my letter box some time this week.

As for the photo that is not of the Gorbals then I would say the photo on page 44 Norrie ??.

Regards.
Danny :)

Hi Danny Gill, I had forgotten about that one, I have still to ask around for ID but I would hazard a guess at Townhead
You have another to look for
Oscar Mazzarolli had a few like that in his books, slums but not Gorbals slums

Hi Norrie I think that was the book he had down at my sisters a fortnight ago as my niece was over from Canada and she was looking at it. She showed me a book on Cranhill as her husband came from there I think some man and the old tenants sent photos in about the scheme and I think it was one of these funded things that sometimes run that funded it but it was a cracking book.

I got my copy today from the Photographer Duncan McCallum, its a great book, better quality of photo than The Gorbals an Illustrated History, not that its not good, it is, you really should have both and now I do and I get a mention in both of them

Gorbals from the 70s came about after I was pointed to Urban Glasgow by a member of Glescapals who knew of my interest in Gorbals , I was impressed by Duncans photos of many areas in Glasgow
I contacted my friend Peter Mortimer and told him of the photos, I said there are BOOKS in this collection, we went to see Duncan and Townhead from the 70s and Gorbals for the 70s is the result, next book is of the East End of Glasgow

Duncan and Peter have done the hard work

Hi Norrie,
Just a further update about the book, I ordered mine from Amazon on the 15 th of this month [November] and was told I would receive it on Wed 20th--Fri 22nd [Nov]. Now I have just received an e-mail from Amazon stating due to unforseen circumstances I will not get the book until 19th of December. Looks like to me that the publisher hasn't sent the book to Amazon yet or ??, perhaps you would like to contact Peter to tell him about this Norrie. Also Amazon said if I wanted to cancel the order then I could [they haven't taken the money yet from my bank account] but I don't want to cancel as I'm really looking forward to receiving the book.
Regards.
Danny :)
