I am looking for my aunt Sadie (nee McGarvey) who was a clippie on the trams until 1962. I once saw a film of the last procession and she was filmed doing her thing. If anyone has a copy of the film I would be very grateful. Sadie was born in Ireland in 1922 but her family in Ireland have not heard from her since the 40s. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

There used to be a song when I was a kid(30s & 40s)that finished "Ya red heidit sinner, come up for yer dinner, cauld totties and herrin" Does anyone know the full details of this refrain? ....here's another wee question. What was the name of the business that manufactured soft drinks, and I think jam, that was opposite Hayfiled Street school? I remember the mouthwatering aromas that wafted into the Classroom during rationing.

Hi, I have been in New Zealand for the past 30 years. I have been told about your website and I love it! I would liek to try and contact Anna Cunningham, she lived up our close, 122 Hospital St. Also, Sadie Clark and John Clark. John was known as Nobby. I went to St Johns School from primary straight through until I left at 15. Friends there were Patsy Kelly, Margaret Kerr, Annette McLaughlin, Kathleen McCardle, Frances Gallagher. Also up our close were the McBrides, James Patrick, Bridget and the Cunninghams (Geanna, Josie, Hugh, Walter). I moved from the Gorbals to Castlemilk when I was 12. I hope someone can help me. Keep up what you are all doing - take care.
