pat roller, daily record

Post by tweedlie5 »

does anyone remember dancing to raise money for Pat Roller of the daily record.....We used to get the benches from the bookies and a neighbour in the low down flat would put the radio gram up full blast, playing rock and roll. We made jive skirts out of crepe paper and stuck sequens on them. We jived like wee demons and everyone who sat on the benches gave a penny for the patroller charity....we then got our names put in the daily record........best time was always when barneys pub came out on a saturday afternoon, oor faithers where always that proud and made all their pals put money in the tin

I remember Pat Rollers atricles in the record but cannot remember the concerts but maybe I stayed a bit away from you so I wouldn't see it. We used to think that was his name but it stood for patroller shows you how innocent we were when we were young.Amelia x

Actually there was nobody called Pat Roller, it was Patroller
I had a friend who was a journalist and he told me that they all took turns to do that column
Yes I know, I was dissapointed too when I heard that
