I'd advise you to google Last days of the old Gorbals, and it should take you straight to loads of old pics...nearly every street is covered.

This is so really helpful for looking up old places in the Gorbals area of old, only the other day I was looking for the Church at Rurherglen Rd/Florence st and came upon here.

Re: Photos from the 70's.
I went on that site Urban Glasgow the other night...and about 6 hours later I had to stop or I would have been there all night...and I still didn't finish every page...but it was just so good to see some of the great old streets....and I can't wait to get back on it to finish where I left off. We are indeed very fortunate to have wonderful people out there who have diligently taken photos through the years and created sites for us all to remember and enjoy.
Thanks
Rosemary

Re: Photos from the 70's.
A book using a lot of those photos is in its final stages before being submitted to the publisher
I will keep you updated on its progress
The photographer was going to throw out all his 70s Glasgow photos, but the guys on Urban Glasgow convinced him that the photos were too valuable for that
Myself and the person thats doing the book, visited the photographer a couple of years ago and he was given permission to write book's using his photos
Smashing photos, look at all the other Glasgow photos that are on show
Please note that there are only 2 sites that show these photos and because there are books in the pipeline, permission to post them on other sites will not be given for some time

That sounds very interesting, will the book be on sale to the general public when it's finished ?, please keep us all updated. Also a big thank you to yourself for all the photos that you have given to us over the years Norrie and thanks for allowing me to use a few Photos of the Gorbals in my own book.
Regards.
Danny

Re: Photos from the 70's.
Hi Danny Gill, yes, the book if it get's published, will be on sale to the general public but it may, like my friends first book appear on Amazon for sale, before reaching the shops
Book was called Townhead from the 70s and the same photographers photo's were used
If you liked the book, The Gorbals an Illustrated History, you will like this new one, photo's are better and they show Gorbals from the 70s

Norrie I will be looking forward to seeing this book with the photos although I have been on urban Glasgow took me and my brother 2 nights to go through it all brought back some great memories. I left the Gorbals in 1961 to come up to Castlemilk still here.
My husband has just had 6 books published on the kindle or is it Amazon he had been working on them for years nothing to do with the Gorbals though he has a trilogy dating back to 1700's also a crime story, science fiction and don't know what the other comes under who knows I might be "flitting" to another house when he gets his commission

Hi amelia good for your husband
I have found that on some of the web sites I am on, a wealth of talent, be it painting, taking photos, historical knowledge of Glasgow or writing books and all of them are Glasgow born and from the older areas of Glasgow
How many more folk are there who have not been able to express themseleves on web sites, untapped talent
