There was a wee jewish baker shop in Dunmore st. just beside our school. He sold these enormous buns for a penny. They were so big that some weans could hardly carry them. The underside was a flat light coloured crust. The top crust was dark, shiny and hard and inside was the most delicious soft bread smothered in cinnamon. Some teachers would allow us to eat these with our milk.Needless to say the milk break lasted longer than it was supposed to.I wonder if any jewish baker could baker could still make such a bun.I would be first in line to buy one.
