The helicopter crashing into the Clutha is an absolute tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims, the families and friends and all others affected by this terrible crash. With respect, Sheila

I too like Sheila just want to say I am so sad to hear of that tragic accident at the Clutha pub on Friday night 
My thoughts and prayers go out to those families who are dealing with the loss of a family member or friend. These old pubs are usually quite small with low ceilings, and as a report stated most of the chopper was inside the pub. Us here in Australia are only getting small pieces of information on the news, so I suppose I'll have to rely on the internet for more updates.
With a heavy heart...may the deceased rest in peace.

Yeah, I agree with you both. It is very sad what happened at the Clutha Vaults, I feel for all the families of the victims of the tragedy. God Bless those died, may they rest in piece.
Well done to those heroic people who went immediately to the rescue of the injured in the pub. Without hesitation, the people from outside the pub ran forward to help immediately, with no fear or consideration for the danger presented to them. But I'm not surprised in the least as this is typical of Gorbals people, who have this unique inbuilt spirit of kindred ship. If they can help you, they will, at a drop of a hat! Their spirit and courage make me feel very proud to be a Gorbalite. Thank you and God bless you all.

Yes I totally agree with Shelia,Rose and John about the tragic accident at the Clutha, God Bless all those poor people who perished and their grieving families who are in deep shock. I feel so very deeply for all those poor people but also proud at the same time for the other Glaswegians who ran to assist those poor folk, 'tis a very sad time for all Glasgow people.

I can only imagine the turmoil the families of the victims are going through, I heard on our news tonight that there are more bodies inside... but the building is in too dangerous a state to retrieve them right now. I also heard from May Sweeney that another body has been removed and the death toll now stands at 9
How tragic that you go out for a good night, have a pint and listen to a band and then this tragedy strikes, those poor people wouldn't have known what hit them. I know Aussies are very kind when it comes to showing you care and helping out in whatever way you can...but Gorbalites and Glaswegians take first place where that's concerned, and I am very proud to be Scottish, but more so a Glaswegian.

Yes the death toll is up to 9 as I write, there maybe more but we will have to wait and see, I went today to hospital over my ingrowing toe nail but that pain is nothing in comparison with what the relatives are going through at this moment, God Bless all.

Hi Gang It has been terrible listening and looking at the TV. The young guy who has been on TV looking for his father they both come from Castlemilk and also Sammy McGhee also comes from here.
My sister phoned me on Friday night at the back of 11pm as she had heard me say that my oldest son John was going to a gig in the town but fortunately he stopped at the Brazen Head and stayed there all night I was up to high doh as he wasn't answering his mobile but we finally got him as by then word had got around about the tragedy.
Remember the same thing happened up at Eastwood toll about 20+ years ago but I cannot remember how many had died then.
God Bless them and all their families and all the firemen , Police and everyone else concerned. They fially lifted the remains of the helicopter this morning around 10/11am.

We are only getting short bits of news down under, they did show the chopper being removed but nothing about those who died and those who are injured. You must have been up to high dough knowing your son was out having a good time somewhere, and you not being able to contact him. Thankfully that had a good ending...not so the boy looking for his father...it's just tragic all around. Yes Danny we tend to whinge about a bit of pain...but we have nothing compared to the pain these families are going through. I would have been in Oz 20+ years ago Amelia, but I'll Google that incident at Eastwood as that's the first I have heard of that.
Ditto to what you said about the families and also the Emergency Services Amelia.

Oh God Amelia, your heart must have been thumping when you heard the news, knowing your lad was out that night and not being able to contact him must have been scary! I am glad to hear he is ok and out of harms way, thank God.
I had a little tear come to my eye today when I saw the Billy Connelly interview on tv paying a visit to leave flowers and his respects to the victims. He said he needed to come to the area and he felt proud to be a Glaswegian. Well done Billy, I'm proud of you too!

On holiday last year in Glasgow, one of my friends wanted to show my Canadian husband some of the old pubs in Glasgow. One of the pubs was the Clutha. What great fun we had in there. A man was holding the door of the pub open (think because it was crowded and he was too warm) and said to my friend, "heh Mrs gonnae lend me yer shoe to haud this door open" my friend all indignant replied "indeed I will not!" Without missing a beat the man responds with "Och away ye go ya miserable ******* you've got two o' them". I nearly needed an ambulance, I laughed so hard. It was just laughs all round and my hubby could have stayed there all night and listened to the patter of the friendly customers. While I'm glad to have this memory of the Clutha, I just feel such sorrow and sadness for all the people who suffered the loss of their loved ones.
Amelia, I can only imagine the worry for you not being able to contact your son, so glad everything worked out and he wasn't in the Clutha.
John, Billy Connolly has been over here three times and each show he always mentioned the Clutha and how he loved going there. I'm glad he returned to pay his respects as he did seem genuinely fond of the pub and the people in it.
May all the survivors, and the grieving families and friends find the strength to get them through this. God Bless each and everyone who helped with the rescue. Sheila
