Dear Santa
I don’t need anything for myself for Christmas so I’m writing you to request something for a friend.
His name is John and he has a longing to see the house he grew up in which is in Castlemilk. If you could work your magic and get the “silent” residents who live there now to respond and agree to his request, it would make not only John a happy man but his many friends on this Gorbals website.

Thank you in advance Santa and I hope you get plenty of rest after the Christmas rush.

Do you know Sheila, it would be a bonus if I get any contact from the folks at my old house but it won't be the end of me thinking that maybe one day it could happen, you never know! But more importantly, through sharing this wish of mine on the forum has achieved so much, it allowed me to make new treasured friends and enjoy the special warmth you always get from Glasgow people, they care and they are there for you anytime. Aw, John I never meant to make you cry, (that's actually a line in one of my favourite songs) but anyway I cried when I read your response. You said you were moved, well many of us on here are moved by your story of the house you grew up in. There may be plenty of people not posting their thoughts on the subject but it's evident from the amount of times your topic has been viewed that there is tons of folk routing for you to have your wish come true. Like you say though John if it doesn't happen, it won't be the end for you, that's the attitude to have John, because if I can quote my Granny again "What's for you, will not go by you" so if it's meant to be, it'll happen, if not well the "Silents" will have me to deal with when I knock on their door or buzz on their intercom, (or whatever it is these days) when I pay them a visit next year. Can't wait! Hubby is saying I'll be going on my own and asking can you organize some bail money? What is he like? Like you said John it's made a lot of treasured friends for many of us. My question is what are we going to do when the "Silents" speak up, we'll need a new drama to occupy us on here? Take care, Sheila
