It was my initial curiosity as what happened to an old friend of my older brother 's
a certain John Pettigrew. Frank from Oz has so far been the only one to throw any light on him but he went around with him probably mid 50 's. But I am still now the wiser as to what happened to him .
It was New Years eve 1959 when John turned up at our house in Knightswood and i believe he had a
brother called James and at the time of the visit he was still living at 100 Bedford Street.
He never forgot his friend and my brother at the time was over the moon and I remember how funny he was . Like Danny has said on many occasions times were hard and especially if you were from a large
family so when I had moved to Knightswood and was about to go to step up to a Senior Secondary School
it was decide at the parents evening by mother that as she could not afford to buy me a School Uniform for my first choice then it was Yoker junior Secondary for me . No complaints you just got on with it.
There was a girl I used pass near Knightswood Park and I used to envy her as she was always
wearing her Jordanhill School uniform and was always walking this lovely wee black dog and i thought she had it made.I think her was Avrill Dyke but not sure about the surname anyway she is probably in her sixties now and having a nice life .
