Hi Sheila thanks for thinking about me I've been back and forth to hospitals with myself and my hubby so by the time we come back we are exhausted. Have started knitting again for my for some of the young people in my sons office so that has been taking a fair bit of my time.

I "keek in" to see if their is anything new on the post but I think everyone must be on Gorbals photos or they don't want to read what the old yins are writing about (Speaking about myself)

So if any of you "young ones" are on write something even if it is a lot of C.p or the site will get shut down again and see if you can get your pals to come on to try and build up the numbers.
Facebook must be taking over I am trying to figure out how someone can go on the Facebook and talk about someone who has just died I don't mean speaking bad about person if I lost someone it would take you buy speaking about it on the phone. Changed days now to me it is an open diary for everyone to see.
My son put me on it but I don't like it.

How right you are Amelia....If we do not use this site, we will lose it and then what happens to all the people who do not use Face Book and are on the other Gorbals site on Face Book? I think all of those who were on here have deflected to that site and forgotton about us Auld Wans here who are not interested in Face Book...Too much information on there and back-biting...Come on folks, get back on here again and let's have some wee blethers like we used to have.
Never heard if that fellow ever got an answer from the people who lived in his childhood home!!!

Hi Amelia
Good to hear from you again. Sorry you and your hubby have been back and forth to hospital, and hope things improve and calm down for you. That's lovely you're knitting for people in your son's office. As we've all mentioned this site has gotten terribly quiet, which is a shame. Think facebook and the other sites that have started within facebook have taken quite a few folks off of here. I agree with you and Margaret some people share way too much personal information on facebook. I just shake my head at some of the stuff people post. I got in touch with a couple of people and asked them to post on here again, but see they haven't. Hope things pick up soon and we start getting this site busy again, that would be great. Anyway Amelia I hope you'll do more than keek in, give us some more of your stories and memories, you always bring a smile to my face or make me laugh. Take care, Sheila

Hi Margaret
Meant to say in that post to Amelia, you mentioned we never heard from John again regarding his childhood home. I think something has prevented John from coming back on here, don't think it's facebook. Just think John would have been on here if he could. Keep thinking about those floods in England and hoping he wasn't affected by that. I hope we'll hear from John sometime soon. Hope this finds you well Margaret and hope your weather is better these days. Cheers, Sheila :)

Hi Sheila/Margaret it has been a wee while since John has been on as you were saying Sheila I hope he is in a part of England that wasn't affected by the floods, but who knows maybe Ingrid is fed up with us females chatting him up  only kidding Ingrid if you read this
Anyway I watched a programme on the TV it was on, on Tuesday night forget what station it was on but I will go back and see what station it is, right t was on BBC TWO at 10pm  it was all about Oscar Mazaroli the photographer that took the photos from some of the Gorbals books it was quite sad watching it and remembering your youth days running around in the Gorbals.
There were some Holy Communion photos but don't know what chapel it waa the wee girls were walking in the street.
If you can catch up On Demand you'll get it, and Margaret my niece is in Canada and she can watch some of the programmes we can get here don't know how she does it.
I was thinking of scrolling back to recent years and getting some email addys from the old posters and send an email asking to drop in, don't know f that would be allowed??
Weather here is very dull and cold but still able to go out. Hope everyone is well and hope to hear from you soon

Welcome back Amelia,

Please feel free to try emailing any of the earlier people.
When we revived the anecdotes site then emails were sent out to as many previous posters as we could find. There were a lot of one off posters who had one area of research or query in mind but its more about getting the regulars back in.

I guess the facebook page is the new ride in town and everybody is getting on board. However this forum is secure and will continue as long as people have stories to tell, memories to clear etc.

There are 165 registered members on this site and an average of about 45 visitors a day so a lot of people are eavesdropping but not contributing. We all know that they needn't be so shy!

All the best and hope to hear from others soon.

Hi gang,
Sorry to hear about you and Hubby going to Hospital Amelia, it's a trying time and I hate going to the Hospital myself [although we need them], yes I think Face-book is where a lot of people are nowadays [that includes myself] although for people who don't want to use Face-book then the Gorbals anecdotes is the place to be. I think that with some people who used to post on here they might just take a "peek" while not leaving a comment which is a shame because even if they left a very short post/comment then that would keep us up and running. Yes that show the other week about Oscar Maazoreli was great showing photos of the old Tenements and his wife and family speaking was very good to hear. Where have all the years gone , it seems in my minds eye the Tenements still exist and when I go back to Glasgow for a wee holiday it always amazes me that they are all gone. Thank God we still have the Gravie at Cally Rd and the Rose Gravie opposite Twomax's building and Richmond Park and a scattering of a few pubs to keep me from getting lost completley. What will the Gorbals look like in another hundred years time ? , I read the other day that Glasgow city council [?] want to change the name of the Gorbals altogether ?, that would be tragic don't you think so. Well gang I will love you and leave you for the time being, so take care and God Bless all.

Regards.
Danny :)

Hi, Danny, with regard to your post about the council wanting to change the name of the Gorbals. I did see something about that but was sure it was just an April fool, it was around the beginning of the month that I seen it so I just took it with a pinch of salt. Well at least I hope it was a joke anyway. The good folk of the Gorbals would never stand for it anyway. :o :(
