The Shows

Hi Peeps,
Hope you're all keeping OK, was thinking there the other day about the Shows that came to Glasgow green in the summer time [was it just the Fair fortnight or longer ??], the Dive bombers, Wurlitzers, motoer bikes etc. The teddy boys that gathered there and pop songs blasting out of every stall your Ma and Granny having a game of housey-housey and the smell of all the machinery operating the rides. Did you or can you ever remember anyone actually winning a coconut from a stall [as I canny]. Loved eating a toffee apple or a stick of Candy floss. Then there seemed to always be a gang fight between a few gangs, The Derry, the Cumbie and Tongs. There was always a great atmosphere at the shows, how many different stalls or things you could go on ?. Take care folks, speak to you all later.

Hi DannyGill, as far as I can make out the shows come to the Green on several occasions during the year
I am sure Easter is one of the other times, of course I have been known to be wrong

Hi Dannygill, I am well, keeping busy with my photos and checking the FB pages that I am involved with
I am not a fan of FB but can see why people like it
To be honest, its causing lots of Message Board member to spend less time on the boards

'The Shows' still visit Glasgow Green during the Glasgow Fair fortnight.
There was aperiod of time where it became a bit of a place to avoid due tae the barney's that were going on.
Not been for many years tae see if its improved.

Hi Danny, Norrie & Admin yes the shows only came at the fair and your right there always seemed to be fights at them usually round about the waltzers

Yes it has been very quiet due to f/book an all the photos, talking about photos I think I am in one of the photos of Twomax but it was taken in 1955 I worked in there at that time but I forget what I looked like then only kidding it is too far away for me to get a right look I bought a magnifying glass but it wasn't worth a damn but you only get what you pay for it cost £1;99
