Hi, trying to get Aileen Stewart's email address, as she has a message I wanted to write to her about. Also, I am looking for anyone who may have know my mother and father. There names are Mary (Myra) Wall and the late Richard Peddie. My mother lived in Castlemilk and my father lived in Queens Park. My mother is now 63 and my father would have been 71 this year. Hope someone might have information. Thanks very much!

I lived at 174 Florence Street, next door to the Hutchie Grammar. I went to Camden St School, but left there when I was 10 years old (1964). I can recall the tin sheds where you went for a shower, auld scobie the heedie (hauns looked like shovels when he shook my hand to say goodbye when I was leaving that great school) cos we were flitting to Castlemilk, but I have fond memories of the Gorbals though! Climbing the dykes, crawling along the sausage, the wee auld guy who sold the whelks and mussels from his barra. The (weehaveit) dairy as well and Duffy's Dairy. They also had a fruit shop at the old ruggy rd end of Florence St. Anybody remember the man who sold the brickets as well as his horse drawn cart? Also McKenzie's coal going all round the Gorbals selling his coal. I remember the price pretty clearly - 8/11 a bag of nuts, aye nuts not the wans you eat (he he he).

To Joe Walker from Toronto - do you have a sister Josephine and was she married out of that close? I lived at 84 Crown Street (busy corner), family name Gallagher. My husband was sometimes called the fish from 192 Ballater Street. Hope you read this.

My dad had a Dairy in Sandyfaulds Street called Nisbet's Dairy which disappeared in the sixties. I played outside the shop when I was young. If anyone has a photograph of the shop or street, I would be interested. I was in training as a district nurse during 1955 and delivered a few babies in the Gorbals, wonderful people many a family lived in a single room and they were little palaces. I have fond memories of the people there.
