Bob Kidd, I lived at 179 Eglinton St and have just started corresponding with someone who lived at 168, then went to 333 at the corner of Cavendish St. Know everyone of the pubs you mentioned. Please send or post your email address.

My mum, May Atkinson lived in Silver Fir Street until she married my dad Bill Russell from Hutchesontown in 1937. I'm searching for info. They came to Australia in 1956 after living in Kings Park, Strathyre and other country places. Does this ring any bells?

I was born in 1941 at 6 Cavendish Street weighing 14lbs at birth. I was the heaviest baby at the time and had a photo in one of the papers, searched but can't find anything. Looking for photos of the LMS Horse Show 1950 - 1956 which was held at LMS Parcel Depot Salkeld Street. Also, would like to get in touch with my cousin Margaret Gilmore from Vine Street Partick regarding photos. If any of our Grandad and Gran Robert and Helen Biggam. I think Margaret went to live in Bolton-Upon-Dearne Yorks, any information would be appreciated.

The right name of the E.E cinema was called Electric Emporium. I used to work there on my days off from the Bedford Eglinton Street, Gorbals. I used to live at 178 Eglinton Street across from the George Bar. Who remembers McKinlays Potato merchant in Peebles St in 1954-60, Kilbarchan Street. The Mally Arms, The Clydesdale, The Tron, The Clock bar, The Devon, The Glen, The Mill Inn, The Cockatoo, The Granite City, The Tradeston Bar next to the Bedford? Anyone who remembers Ms Cox who was my teacher at St. Margarets infants school on Admiral St 1946 would love to hear from you.

I was wondering if anybody remembers my papa Joseph McLoughlin. He was born in the Gorbals in 1929 and lived at 230 Gorbals Street. If anyone remembers him, then you probably remember my great-aunt Winnie McLoughlin, who sadly died in February 2000. She worked in Ayrshire Farmers Diary (Crawford's Dairy) in Norfolk Street for most of her working life.

I am currently researching Gorbals life for a play I am designing called 'Bread and Butter' by C.P. Taylor which will tour to Dundee Rep, Edinburgh Traverse and Glasgow Arches in June. I am trying to find out any details of single tenement life that I might not have come across in my research and wondered whether you might be able to share any with me regarding the interiors, clothes etc. Also, there is a character called Miriam and her husband Alec who work in a garment factory (making greatcoats for soldiers) and I wondered what they might wear at work - a special dress/apron/overalls? I would appreciate any help you might be able to give me. Many thanks!

Browsing through this great website brought back so many wonderful memories. I went to St. Francis and Holyrood. We lived on Thistle St right behind Hospital St and the weighing machine, and I can remember when they built a bigger weigh machine and the little brick hut. The workmen told us kids they were building a swimming pool, we were so excited but alas, they were taking the mickey oot o us. I would love to hear from any childhood friends or if anyone knows Irene Oliver, Betty Gallacher, Clancy, Ruth Ferguson, Madgie Drummond to name a few, please email me. Thanks

I lived above Belchers newsagents next door to Dollar Rae. I remember the Campbell's very well, Jim married Fay Alexander who's mother was my moms 2nd cousin or some such I lived at 287 Eglinton St. William Haggerty neighbours would have been Ann McAndrew Gordon and David Gilmour the Hendry's top floor. Next close 56 Cavendish Street McDonagh's, Milligan's, Bonnar's and Fletchers, there was a spare piece of ground at the back of our tenements where our moms and dads played rounders with us wains on summer nights. We also held bonfire night there and it was quite a turn out. We also ran along top of the dykes from midden to midden, so many memories. If anyone remembers the Williamson's or McLeod's please leave a message.

My dad George Lennox Keir was born at 153 Gloucester Street, Glasgow on 11.07.1932. His mother was Mary Low (nee Lennox). I have discovered many of her relatives on the origins site and would dearly like to find some descendants that are alive today if possible. Thus if anyone knows anything of the following people and they could let me know I would be very grateful. John Lennox married Kate in 1922. Lizzie Crockert Lennox married George Bennie in 1925. Janet Rodden Lennox married Alexander MacKenzie in 1909. Annie Davidson Lennox married George Munn in 1908. Mary Lennox who married James Low in 1919. (James died in 1930 at 153 Gloucester St, Glasgow). My dad was brought up by George Morrison and Elizabeth (nee McLaughlan) Keir in the Gorbals until he joined the Royal Navy in 1950. His friends knew him as "wee jordie". If you can help - thank you.
