I finally saw my posting below - correction - I was born at 291 Lawmoor Street. Dominic Boyle - I saw your posting further down. You mentioned the Bradley brothers, could that have been my Da (Norrie) and his younger brother Eddie? I would love to hear from you if they are the ones!

We lived at 62 Lawmoor Street in the building were Donnelly, Callaghlan, Murphy, Flynn, Lamb, Dunn, Kelly, Horn, Harrity, Brazil, Wylie and Daly lived. Also on our street I remember Duddy, Sweeney, Trainer, Barrett, Smith, Hunter, Fitzpartick, MacFadyen Willie, Bellshaw shop callaghlan facing it. There were so many good times and some great people. I was born in the Gorbals in 1951, at 29 Lawmoor Street. I left Glasgow in 1959 and moved to Corby. Sandy Warren - I saw your message and I remember your uncle Lawrie, he was friends of my Ma and Da. Infact, I remember he came to Corby on at least one occasion for a visit. I also remember my Ma, while we were "up the road" for a holiday (probably during the Glesga Fair) taking my brother Eddie and I with her to visit your Da, Jimmie. I remember my Ma buying us sweeties to keep us quiet while she and your Da talked about old times. I would love to hear from you if you get a chance. I was home in Glasgow last August and can think of nothing else but how I can manage to get back there to live. Hopefully I'll be there within the next 3 years. Regards Margaret Bradley.

Does anyone remember my father Robert (Rab) Cairney or any of the Cairney family? Dad lived at 316 Crown Street, he went to Abbotsford Primary and Adelphi Secondary School. He was a postman and also worked as a Clennyman and many more jobs. He had a mother called Mary, father called John Murphy Cairney, a sister called Mary Anne Cairney and his brother Richard Cairney. I would love to hear from anyone who knew his family.

My father Robert Augustus McKissack served on the 'Clyde Industrial Training Ship' the 'Empress under Capt.Superintendant J.Symond discharged 10th Sept 1919. The ship was for children of poor parentage, no "Criminals were admitted or retained". Is there any history to this ship? Any museum records?

My grandmother Anne Pearson Smith was born in the Gorbals in 1901. Her brother was William and her sister Barbara. Her family came to Canada when she was 9 or 10. Nana passed away in 1984, never having had a chance to come back home to her beloved Scotland. I will always remember her telling me of how as a child in the Gorbals she would yell up to her mother "hey Ma! throw me down a sandwich!" it used to fascinate me as a child, as I could never imagine this refined lady yelling anything, at any time (or how the sandwich survived the drop to the street below!)..:0) Greetings from Canada, with loving memory of my grandmother Anne, Christine.

My father, Peter Cowie Finlay, was born in Glasgow in 1918 and lived with his family at or near Crown Street. He had one brother Charles, and three half brothers and sisters - Phyllis, William, Robert. I would like to hear from anyone who knew him or his family. Especially I am trying to trace Phyllis who married a Canadian after the WW2 and settled in Canada.

Since you have your fathers dob and address you should be able to obtain his birth certificate, which will have details of your grandparents (there will be a fee to pay for it). Although I was young when I lived in 128b Nicholson street I remember a shop called Babbins, please does anyone else remember this shop name or did my mother give me something a bit stronger in my bottle and I have made the name up?
