Re: Seems like it is GOODBYE from everybody

There are many reasons why this site has failed and its posters have become apathetic. Not least of these are its poorly structured architecture, accessibility and appearance, all of which would not look out of place on a website from 25 years ago. I am all too well aware its easy to criticise ...

Re: New Member, quick intro

Yes Danny many happy memories of those days. Talking of the Polis Office, did you ever have occasion to visit the Flea Market immediately behind it and situated at the top of Commercial Road? At the time, as a child, I found this place both intriguing and mystefying. Perhaps, because I was never ...

Re: New Member, quick intro

Hello there Frank and welcome. I'm Don Paton and, like others, I too remember you from the old site. I also went to St Luke's in Ballater Street. I see that you lived in Lawmoor Street. My mothers family lived at 218 Lawmoor Street, which was situated between Rutherglen Road and Cumberland Street ...

Re: Your favourite teacher in school??

Hi Danny, thank you for your comments. I had relatives and friends in Oatlands who also went to St Bonaventures. I was wondering if you were by any chance related to John and Thomas McGill who lived at 5 Granton Street, Oatlands?

Thank you for your kind response Sheila. Much appreciated. Are there any other former St Lukes pupils out there?
Kindest regards.

Re: Your favourite teacher in school??

This entry got me to thinking about memories of my first day at St Luke's Primary School, Ballater Street, during August 1951. These memories remain precious and etched into my frontal lobes to this day. Each new apprehensive pupil, accompanied by a parent or guardian, warmly greeted by their new ...

Re: The Clelland bar

Hello Danny, yes, I remember only too well the Clelland Bar and, as others have pointed out, it was one of the first pubs in the Gorbals to feature live entertainment. Before that I vaguely recollect we had to go to a pub in Rutherglen for live acts. I think it was called the Viking or Vulcan. I was ...
