Hope everyone is doing OK, was thining the other day when the rag and bone man came round the streets of the soo-side, was it a bugle or a trumpet he blew ?. As soon as you heard the bugle[trumpet] a big cheer went up as we ran up the stairs to beg our Ma's for a few old clothes so we could get a balloon in return lol. That had us smiling for a while , I wonder how many rags/clothes the rag and bone man had to collect to get himself a few shillings ?, where did he go to off-load them ?. I'm sure there was a big clothes place for rags in Ballater st under the railway arches [just round the corner from Hospital st where the Cleland bar was] but there must have been other shops for old clothes , does/can anyone remember where they were. Speak later gang take care for now.
Regards.
Danny.
