Re: Rag and bone man.

Hi Danny,

I remember the Rag and Bone man very well, he used to blow a bugle not a trumpet. My Mum always checked that you weren't grabbing any good clothes before she would let you out the door! Yeah I remember that place in Ballater St it used to have mountains of clothes all heaped up in there ...

Re: Coming Back Soon

Hi Danny,

Nice to hear from you too pal. Yeah technology today is unbelievable at times, so many devices available compared to when we were kids. You are right, the only phone I ever seen in those days was inside a Red box and you needed money to use it. Money, what was that! Never seen too much of ...

Coming Back Soon

Hi Everyone,

I sincerely apologise for my somewhat abrupt and protracted absence, but it was out of my control. A couple of months ago I was baby sitting my little Grandson and had just served up his lunch to him when I decided to start up my computer mainly for his entertainment when he started to ...

Re: A Longing In My Heart-2014 Edition

Hi John (partner)
Maybe we should send Mr. Beltrami and his associates a formal invitation to our meet and greet at Blaeloch, the poor "Silents" would be gob smacked!  Notice oor Amelia is not taking us up on the offer to join us, I was hoping she could wear her hat and we could all make ...

Re: A Longing In My Heart-2014 Edition

Hi John (partner)
That's a great idea we'll meet up with Amelia at 31. Anyone else in?
But wait a minute! Now we're going in if the house is empty? God almighty John that'll be another charge, so it will be stalking, harassment and now break & enter! Now we will need Beltrami's entire legal ...

Re: Typical Glaswegian Dinner Menu- 50's/60's

The dinner I hated most was.......ribs and cabbage...I could not stand the "slabbery" mess of it..

Hi Margaret,

Oh I loved Ribs and Cabbage, haven't had that in years! I well remember an eating establishment near The Barra's which I think was on London Rd or just off there, I'm sure that was all ...

Re: Typical Glaswegian Dinner Menu- 50's/60's

My Ma used to make 'Stovies' on a Saturday afternoon for my Da to eat when he came back from the pub, I used to enjoy it as well with a couple slices of bread.

Hi,

I loved Stovies too with a nice bit of bread and butter. Very filling and very tasty meal made from left overs usually. Can you ...

Typical Glaswegian Dinner Menu- 50's/60's

Hi All,

I made a knock up meal for some of the Grandchildren the other day and I explained to them that I would be making it the way my Mum did when I was a kid. One of the children asked if I would be doing a starter and some afters.....So I said yes I would and I would make up a little menu for ...

Re: A Longing In My Heart-2014 Edition

Hi Sheila,

It will be nice to go home for a visit it's been too long since the last one and I'm really looking forward to it. Yes let's make plans to meet outside No 31 and we will get Amelia to come along with us, we can have some placards held on our shoulders saying " Please help the needy " or ...
